xTuple is exciting to see and to use. It is open source, meaning that users get the source code and therefore the ability to make their own enhancements. It also means that xTuple has a world wide community contributing these enhancements back to the core product. Thus an already dynamite application becomes even more feature-rich with each successive release.
xTuple is also multi-platform. You can run it on any mix of Linux, Windows or MAC. For example, you can deploy it on a Linux server and use it from clients on any of the available platforms, where the user gets exactly the same look and feel.
Multi-language and multi-currency are built in features. In fact, the language used in the displays are settable by user. There are even Asian character sets and languages available.
There are 3 editions of this product. The Manufacturing edition (not a surprise since the company got its start as 'OpenMFG'), the Standard edition, and the Postbooks edition. While the Postbooks edition is missing the scheduling/planning features and the multi-warehouse with serial/lot control present in the others, it has the distinctive advantage of being FREE.
You owe it to yourself to check out this product that has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times and is in use all over the world.
Here are two introductory videos which will provide a product tour and additional information.
