Forty Years of Doing This Right
Megatechnologies was founded in 1985 — before the internet was a business tool, before cybersecurity was a household word, before anyone had heard of the cloud. We’ve grown through every major technology transition of the past four decades, and helped businesses do the same.
What that history gives us isn’t nostalgia — it is the depth of an organization that has grown through every major technology transition of the past four decades and helped businesses do the same. Our approach is built on systems and processes, not heroics. Technology should work. When it doesn’t, we should already know about it.
Where It Started
In 1985 we installed a point-of-sale and inventory system for a motorcycle shop in Metro Detroit. The technology was S-100 bus architecture, Z80 processor, TurboDOS operating system, and ARCNET networking — none of which exist anymore.
To appreciate what that meant: in 1985, the IBM PC had only been on the market for four years and was still a novelty in business settings. Microsoft was a programming languages company that had just begun shipping MS-DOS — Windows was brand new and almost nobody was using it, and Microsoft had no network capability whatsoever. “Networking” meant physically stringing coaxial cable between machines and hoping the token-passing protocol held together. The internet existed only in universities and defense labs. Storing business data meant managing physical floppy disks. A system that connected multiple workstations to shared inventory data was genuinely cutting-edge.
The business problems it solved — tracking inventory, processing transactions, connecting workstations — are the same problems we solve today with different tools. That first installation is still the best summary of what we do: understand the business, build the right system, make it work.
How We Work
Megatechnologies is built on process, not personalities. Our systems and documentation mean that your technology support doesn’t depend on any single person — it depends on an organization with forty years of accumulated practice. We serve businesses in Metro Detroit and nationally, including clients in Texas, Florida, and Maryland. Every engagement starts with understanding your business first and your technology second.
Four decades of IT. We grew up with the industry so we can lead your business through it.
